Parish activities
Members of the congregation together with the pastoral team have created and initiated several schemes to engage across all ages of the congregation and with the community at large and indeed further afield.
Youth Fellowship
Young People are a highly valued part of our Church community. We regularly consult with them to help us provide a variety of services and activities that will stimulate and excite them. As part of our ‘Stages For Faith’ programme, we have staged a number of Church productions that have included children as well as adults. Most recently, we have performed The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe, Beauty and the Beast and a passion play called The Son. Past productions include The Magician’s Nephew, Joseph, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Secret Garden.
Children have the opportunity to make artwork to decorate the church, to cook and put performances together at our regular Messy Church services that take place in our primary school and in regular workshops at seasons such as Easter and Christmas.
They are able to demonstrate their faith through being an integral part of the services- particularly All Age Eucharists,- providing readings, dramatic performance and intercessions on these wonderful occasions. Our young servers are also an important part of our regular Sunday Eucharists.
Sunday School
We have an active Sunday School for children aged 3 years and upwards. It meets in the Church Room, alongside the main body of the church, so parents and children are near each other. It begins at 10.30am with singing, followed by a Bible-based lesson geared to the age of the children. Children return to church at Communion. Parents are welcome to stay for all or part of the session.
Georgians
Georgians is a group for 8 – 11 year olds and is led by a team of volunteers from the church. During the 10.30am Sunday service in term time, we go out to the Marian Centre during the first hymn and reading.
The Georgians session lasts for about 20 minutes and during this time children are encouraged to discuss the theme of the week, read the bible, followed by some art or drama. After we have finished the session, children go back into church and join their parents for the last part of the service.
For our Georgians members, the fun does not stop at church! Every year we plan an outing and a children’s party. It is a great opportunity to meet other children from church and to have fun together.
We always look forward to welcoming new members, and if you would like more information please contact Richard Williams in church.
Noah’s Ark
We are pleased to be able to report that our popular Noah’s Ark Group will be returning to Hornsey Parish Church on 15th and 16th of September 2021.
Noah’s Ark is our church Parent and Toddler group, meeting every Wednesday and Thursday in the Parish Hall from 9.30am until 11.30am. This growing community group actively welcomes and encourages all carers, babies and toddlers.
For further details please contact our Lay Schools Worker, Naomi Malone, on 07776 588 602 or come along.
Meeting Point – Wednesday Drop in Lunch
Every alternate Wednesday we gather together for a light lunch served at 12.00.
It is a great opportunity to catch up and we hope to also on occasion have invited speakers who share with us their experiences and interests.
No membership necessary, just turn up and join us for a good chat amongst friends.
